First market manipulation case in Latvia's history goes to court
For the first time in Latvia’s history, individuals are being tried for market manipulation. The defendants do not admit their guilt in carrying out fictitious transactions designed to inflate share turnover on the stock exchange and thereby gain an additional sum of more than 100,000 euros. The prosecutor is asking the court to impose fines totalling several tens of thousands of euros on the defendants for these actions, Latvian Television reported on October 28.
