‘Gravestones are sinking into the ground’: Preserving Lithuania’s Jewish cemeteries

Before the Second World War, there were between 200 and 240 Jewish cemeteries in Lithuania. Most of them today stand neglected. The non-profit organisation MACEVA, the Litvak Cemetery Catalogue, has been working in Lithuania since 2011 to preserve this heritage.
